Hello. Today is Feb. 23rd 2011. I had an appointment with an occupational therapist today which was pretty much like going back to pre-school. I had to trace lines, put pegs in blocks, and find hidden shapes in pictures. I did really good which means my brain is functioning normally as far as basic logic goes. I also started physical therapy for my shoulder which was dislocated during the seizure.
My next appointment is on friday Feb. 25th. This is for radiation "start up". They will be getting everything ready to start the treatments on my big ol' head. I guess they make a silence of the lambs kind of face mask for me that attatches to the table that I lay on in order to insure that my head is in the same exact spot every time I have my treatment. My treatments will be 5 days a week for 6 weeks. I guess nausea, lack of energy and headaches are the most common side effects.
I will also be starting chemo at the same time as the radiation. They gave me pills to take at home for this which is a real good thing. Side effects should be the same as radiation.
Thanks for all of the love and support. I will be updating this blog on a regular basis. Please feel free to come to this page whenever you are wondering what is going on with my situation. Love, Brian

Brian,
ReplyDeleteYou were in my thoughts today as I know it was your day to be "fit" for your mask. Good news: the hard part is over. I'm thinking about you everyday and am a phone call away if you want to talk. Love and miss you guys, Auntie K
Brian,
ReplyDeleteThis is the best idea for someone in your current situation to keep us all informed so we don't have to constantly blow up your phone. Know I'm thinking about you these days and wishing you well during the chemo and radiation. I know its hard for you to know what you want or need when people ask, but Paul and I are always here when and if you need something - even just to be left alone. I won't be coming today with the family to visit; I've had some recent drama myself (with my teeth) and am really backed up with school work, but I' m there in spirit and Paul made a quick video clip from me to you that he'll show you later.
I love you both and you're in my thoughts. If you need anything, please let us know.
Tracy
We are always here for you love you.

ReplyDeleteHi Brian ~
ReplyDeleteYou probably don't remember me since you were a little whippersnapper last time I saw you. I am Kelly's sister. Just wanted to let you know we have been praying for you since the day Kelly told us of your seizure. I hope you don't mind a bunch of Okies, that would be us, following along on your journey.
